Founded in 1983 by cellist Eliot Bailen, Artistic Director, and flutist Susan Rotholz, the Sherman Chamber Ensemble now offers a year-round schedule of performances for all ages in a variety of venues in Connecticut and New York. Guided by its mission to bring world class musicians to our communities and schools to perform a diverse range of music with an approach that is intimate and inclusive, SCE offers Baroque programs, jazz-inspired concerts, bluegrass jamborees, musical living history programs, children's and family concerts, school residencies and pop/rock coffeehouses, in addition to its signature summer chamber music series, which was described by The New York Times as "about as close as it gets to the Platonic ideal of a chamber music concert."

Join Us for "Jazzing Up the Classics" Benefit Concerts - jazz-inspired holiday and classical music with Ted Rosenthal (piano), Susan Rotholz (flute and vocals), Eliot Bailen (cello), Thomson Kneeland (bass), Chris Parker (drums), and Paul Meyers (guitar).

Ted Rosenthal, piano/composer is one of the leading jazz pianists of his generation. He actively tours worldwide with his trio, as a soloist, and has performed with many jazz greats, including Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer, Phil Woods, Bob Brookmeyer, and James Moody.

Winner of the 1988 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition, Rosenthal has released fifteen CDs as a leader. Rhapsody in Gershwin (2014), which features his arrangement of Rhapsody in Blue for jazz trio, reached #1 in jazz album sales at iTunes and Amazon. Wonderland (2013), was selected as a New York Times holiday pick, and received much critical praise.
